Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Program
Strengthening Families. Stabilizing Communities.
About Us
Through the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), Campesinos Unidos, Inc., delivers essential services that reduce hardship, improve stability, and create pathways toward long-term self-sufficiency.
Funded by the California Department of Community Services and Development (CSD), the CSBG program provides comprehensive services to low-income individuals and families across Imperial County.
Beyond providing immediate assistance, we recognize the importance of connecting households to resources that promote lasting stability, resilience, and economic mobility.
Our Approach
We take a comprehensive, community-informed approach to service delivery by:
• Responding to immediate needs
• Leveraging partnerships to expand resources
• Connecting individuals to long-term support
• Using data and community input to guide services
What We Do
We offer a range of services to support families in times of need and connect them with additional resources to improve overall well-being.
Housing & Utility Stability
We help households maintain safe and stable living conditions through:
• Eviction prevention
• Utility assistance to avoid disconnection or restore services
• Emergency support for households experiencing a temporary crisis
Services are based on eligibility, funding availability, and program guidelines.
Food Security & Nutrition Support
We address food insecurity through a combination of direct services and community partnerships, including:
• Emergency food pantry services
• Food rescue partnerships to recover and redistribute surplus food
These efforts increase access to nutritious food while reducing waste and strengthening local resource networks.
Free Tax Preparation (VITA)
We partner with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to offer free tax preparation services for low- to moderate-income households.
Through our VITA program:
• Federal and state tax returns are prepared and filed at no cost
• We help individuals claim valuable tax credits, including:
o Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
o California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC)
These credits can significantly increase household income and support financial stability.
